Shipping and Receiving Supervisor

Basic Function

Responsible for the daily activities of UniSea Cold Storage, which include assigning daily work assignments to subordinates, scheduling of inbound and outbound trucks, properly receiving goods and preparing paperwork for movement of cold storage inventories.

Essential Duties:

  1. Maintains good customer relations to ensure credibility and integrity of UniSea Cold Storage workmanship and UniSea products.
  2. Direct communications with customers concerning customer shipping and receiving schedules.
  3. Communicate directly with shipping companies concerning customer requests for movement of products.
  4. Review and recommend action on plant work hours, staff levels and other areas of concern, both routine and non-routine.
  5. Assist in the direction of work for warehouse employees, assuring their completion of tasks to meet and maintain schedules.
  6. Monitor and review daily shipments and receipts to ensure quality and quantities are accurate. Supervisor record keeping ensuring that all products are accounted for and accurately recorded, packaged, identified, and warehoused.
  7. Instruct new employees in the details of operations, work habits, procedures, and Company policies. Periodically evaluate employees and subordinate lead’s performance. Apply additional training and discipline when necessary.
  8. Recommend improvements in procedures, facilities, and equipment. Order necessary materials and equipment.
  9. Maintain safety standards in accordance with company policy. Review, recommend and implement safety training for all Shipping and Receiving and Customer Service staff.
  10. Champion all aspects of the Food Safety and Quality Assurance program including HACCP, sanitation, and other related prerequisite programs. Maintain compliance with regulatory and GFSI standards.
  11.  Perform other duties as directed.

Requirements:

  • High school or equivalent, plus a minimum of 2-4 years of Shipping and Receiving experience.
  • Must have strong computer skills, primary software systems are Word, Excel, Outlook and Footprint by Datex (WMS).
  • May have occasional (10%) exposure to undesirable elements including refrigerated loading dock and freezers. Loading dock and freezer floors may be wet or icy.

This is a salary non-exempt position with a wage range of $59,605-$70,047 per year.
