Systems Technician

Basic Function:

Provide technical support services for systems within UniSea’s operation. Work directly with end users to troubleshoot hardware and software issues. Serve as a technical contact for UniSea employees, including support escalations from Dutch Harbor IT team. Duties include participating in the on-call rotation as needed to support 24/7 production during processing seasons.

  

Essential Duties:

  • Manage help desk ticketing system, assigning tickets to appropriate personnel as needed
  • Configure, deploy and support end user desktop computers, laptops, mobile devices, phones, printers and other enterprise hardware
  • Install, configure and support Microsoft desktop operating systems and networking, Microsoft Office applications, enterprise business software and other mission critical software applications
  • Primary contact for UniSea Antivirus software – CrowdStrike and Defender
  • Troubleshoot and respond promptly to end user technical issues. Serve as technical contact for UniSea employees and support escalation from Dutch Harbor IT team. Research and document solutions for problems solved.
  • Collaborate with other members of the Information Systems team on special projects and escalated problem solving
  • System Security – Be an integral part of managing system security resources and provide users with security access to the network
  • Personal/Professional Development – Expand knowledge of computer systems hardware and software by attending seminars, user groups, continuing education courses and reading industry publications

  

Secondary Duties:

  •  Requires periodic travel to Alaska on short notice for one to several weeks at a time
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  

Position Requirements:

  •  Associate Degree in Computer Sciences or equivalent to two years of college
  • Minimum 2–4 years experience working with and supporting Microsoft desktop systems and TCP/IP networking; troubleshooting and configuring hardware devices including desktop computers, laptops, mobile devices, phones, printers and other USB peripheral devices
  • Must possess good communication and organizational skills as well as excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to interact in a positive manner with diverse cultures in a team environment

This is a salaried non-exempt position with a salary of $59,605-$80,000 per year.
