Refrigeration Specialist

Basic Function:

Perform a variety of specialized maintenance and repairs on UniSea Cold Storage’s ammonia refrigeration system to ensure continuous, safe, and efficient operation.

 

Essential Duties:

  • Conduct detailed inspections, repairs, and maintenance of intricate equipment integral to ammonia plant operations. Responsible for documenting all maintenance, repairs, and safety inspections for the ammonia system.
  • Coordinate efficient and effective maintenance tasks during planned plant downtime, while maximizing productivity and minimizing disruptions to ammonia plant operations
  • Develop and execute the overall preventative maintenance plan specific to ammonia plant equipment. Present to UniSea Cold Storage management expected repair costs prior to beginning the job.
  • Maintain and monitor optimal capacities of ammonia systems and promptly address any operational issues
  • Work closely with King and Prince Maintenance and UniSea’s Dutch Harbor Plant Maintenance to optimize the performance of ammonia plant equipment and systems while fostering communication and collaboration
  • Incorporate industry-specific best practices, promote a culture of safety and compliance within the plant, and recommend training to enhance employee proficiency in handling issues that may arise in the ammonia plant
  • Collaborate with Safety and other stakeholders on Process Safety Management (PSM) protocols tailored to ammonia equipment. Regularly update documentation, ensuring it remains current and easily accessible to relevant stakeholders.
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Position Requirements:

 

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required
  • 2-4 years of anhydrous ammonia system operation and maintenance experience
  • Professional appearance and manner required
  • Must possess good communication and organizational skills as well as excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to interact in a positive manner with diverse cultures in a team environment

This is an hourly non-exempt position with a rate of $28.65-$33.67 per hour.
